We are looking for volunteers to participate in this very honorable program. GBPHC has been involved for many years. Don't miss out on the unique volunteer opportunity. Plan to wear a Galveston Bay Parrot Head Club shirt.
Wreaths are placed on veterans' graves across the country at exactly the same time. Our group is usually assigned to help point out where parking is available, so we need to arrive at 10am for that task. There is a short and poignant ceremony beginning at 11:00, and then the wreaths are placed.
Penny: Signals that a visitor stopped by to pay their respects and visit the grave. (This is the most common choice for civilians). There is a tradition to bring pennies and place one on each tombstone that you visit. This is not required, but makes the experience more meaningful. Other coins are also used with various military service meanings involving the deceased veteran.
Please Register to RSVP so we have an idea of how many volunteers we will have.
