Howdy PHlockers!!!

Riddles Number 27 is in the Sack! WOW! What a great time was had by all. We did face quite a bit of adversity and your Board did not disappoint!

Outstanding job by all involved, all of the volunteers who took on roles, and

performed PHlawlessly!

All of our musicians were at the top of their game as well, to the point that we committed to Wake Zone and Conch Republic Band that they

would be our headliners in the ballroom for RITS #28. So work on #28 has already begun.

While the weather didn’t cooperate and drove our attendance down a bit, we still were very successful. We cleared just south of $15,000 for donations to our Charities. Funds have already been allocated to Lighthouse, Elks, Alzheimer’s, and American Legion Scholarship fund. A second wave of donations will be distributed in the November time frame.

On our very near horizon, we will have elections for our Board of Directors positions. This year, the following positions are up for election: Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, PHun Director, and Charities. ANY member in good standing is eligible for nomination and election. I urge you to consider running for one of these positions as opposition in an election only shows health within the organization. This year your Election Chair will be Michelle Slaughter Davis and she is actively putting together everything needed to allow us to have an electronic election/voting process. Paper ballots will still be allowed however it will be predominately electronic. Coming up, we will have the opportunity to participate in the Galveston County Alzheimer walks with those details coming soon. We will also have volunteer opportunities with Wreaths Across America and Blue Santa. We will wrap up the year with our annual Birthday/Christmas Party.

Just because RITS is in the books doesn’t mean we are sitting back waiting on next year, lots to do, all of these events PLUS Rob is working diligently

setting up a Happy Hour for you every Friday night! So come on out and get involved and join in on the PHun!!!

Again, thank you for all you have done to make Galveston Bay Parrot Head Club one of the best in the Nation!

The Purpose of Our Partying

Thank you to everyone who donated items, money, and time to Riddles in the Sand. We had great success even with the weather not cooperating. A special big thanks to those who came and bid on all the auction items. As a result, several charities will benefit from your generosity. 

In the third quarter, we will focus on collecting school supplies, so bring them to the next happy hour and give them to any board member. We will also participate in Alzheimer's Association activities. Look for more information on the Alzheimer's Kick-off Event and the two Galveston County walks.

Did you know there's an app to keep up with what's going on with the club? You can download the Wild Apricot for Members app.  The app is not unique to us, so don't look for an app for "GBPHC." Log in using the same email and password you use to log in on the website.  When you log in our club events and information will be there. Your profile information is also there and it  includes a club "card" that you can show people who are interested in our club. It has a QR code they can scan to take them to the website. The app is free and available in both Google Play store and the Apple App store.

Jimmy Buffett's Cheeseburger in Paradise Casserole

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

• 1 pound ground beef
• 1 large onion, chopped
• 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• dash of Worcestershire sauce
• 1 cup shredded cheese 
• 1 cup milk
• 1/2 cup baking mix (Bisquick)
• 2 eggs

Cook the ground beef and onion in a skillet until cooked through, about 5 minutes. Drain if you have excess grease. Add the seasoned salt, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and turn off the heat. Put the seasoned meat into a greased pie plate or casserole dish. Top with the shredded cheese. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the baking mix, milk and eggs until smooth. Pour the mixture over the cheese. Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven about 25 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.
